About Us
Welcome to my website I'm Hermione and my husband Dan and I have owned Beagles for 24 years, we bought our first Beagle “Bert” in 2001 when we lived in the UK which is when our passion for the breed was ignited. Pakowhai Beagles was registered with the UK Kennel Club back in 2005 and then registered with Dogs NZ in 2016 when we moved back to NZ.
We live in rural Central Hawkes Bay on a 20-acre lifestyle property where our beagles enjoy daily walks in our paddocks and woodland, they have a lot of freedom with off lead walks being able to run, sniff and paddle in the stream that runs through our property.
I’m actively involved with the breed and attend conformation shows. I am a Beagle Breed specialist judge, and I have judged Beagles in the UK, NZ and Australia.
Over the years I have done all sorts with our beagles Showing, Obedience, Flyball, Agility and Drag Hunting. Beagles are not only great family pets they are also a great breed for dog sports, they can turn a paw to anything and are particularly good at tracking and scent work.
Currently I have five beagles, Memory (12), Millie (7), Tori (3), Nessie (7 months) & Devon (7 months). I imported Tori from Pat Sutton (Rossut Beagles) in the UK she arrived in February 2024, in March 2025 she had beautiful litter of 7 puppies. I also have the most handsome boy Earl the Field Spaniel, he is a rare British breed and currently the only one in NZ, I imported him from (Dawnus Fields) in Sydney, Australia in February 2021.
